Why Go to Roatan?

Vacation spots such as Paris, London, Rome, and Hawaii all seem to take the top spot for most people. However, there are plenty of smaller spots that all have their own charms and the potential for a lot of memories to be made. One of these spots is Roatan, a small island of the coast of Honduras.

It carries all the benefits most people want in an island, such as forests, ocean blue waters, and sandy beaches. It is also home to a large coral reef and is popular for those who want to dive and see the marine life that the world has to offer.

The eastern part of the island is perfect for those who love privacy and who want to simply dive and explore the island in peace, while the land activities are also animal filled. Roatan is home to one of the largest preservation farms, with a particularly large population of iguanas. Over two thousand of the reptilian creatures scamper around, as well as areas where you can see monkeys, insects, and a large amount of plant life.

Going Under the Sea

The diving is often what brings people to the island, and it does not disappoint regardless of your experience level. You can be trained in your hotel swimming pool and taught one on one with a certified instructor before either diving in the shallower waters or deep in the sea.

The area is filled with shipwrecks, sand piles, and is home to a large number of friendly fish and wildlife that you can look out for. There are various spots around the island that can take you on more grand adventures and will allow you to see much more wildlife. So, you’ll be spending a lot of time in the water, and will probably become a fish yourself!

Some places, like Anthony’s Key resort, will bring you closer to a fellow underwater mammal as they allow you to swim with, touch, and even receive kisses from a pod of friendly dolphins! That alone is a reason enough to make the trip to the island!

Going West

At the western side of the island, you can catch a glimpse of more traditional life on the island. With restaurants, bars, stores, and dance bars that allow you to get your groove on. It’s all the fun anyone could ask for. Seafood and other types of edible items are all there for your enjoyment as you relax and unwind after a long day out in the water.

Whether you want a more traditional outdoor experience with wining, dining, and outdoor fun, or you just want to snorkel and see the marine life, Roatan is an island that will cater to all types of people. Just be sure to stay safe while scuba diving.

Explore, unwind, and take in all the sights and sounds that the island and its many amenities have to offer. Then, you’ll be sure to mark Roatan as a place where you need to come back!
